Once a manufacturer or distributor has completed its initial evaluation of ERP software companies through the RFI and Introductory Demonstrations process, it is in a position to select a “short list” of potential ERP software suppliers. Once this short list has been defined, the manufacturer or distributor develops a more detailed list of business software requirements for the ERP software selection project. This detailed list of requirements forms the core of a formal request for proposal (RFP) document to be distributed to remaining ERP software suppliers for their review and written response.
