Established in 1920 and based in Cincinnati, Ohio, NexGen Enterprises operates a large number of building material distribution centers and produces equipment for the building industry.
The company has experienced significant growth the past three years through natural sales increases and acquisitions. The acquisitions of companies required an IT infrastructure capable of managing the newly acquired companies and to take advantage of the larger NexGen infrastructure.
NexGen had been searching for a complete business software solution for 18 months and found the selection process to be somewhat confusing and difficult. It retained an outside company to help identify the key critical success factors of the company and develop a long-term vision for the company. From this exercise, the company developed an RFI based on the functionality required to mange the vision of the company. According to NexGen, Enterprise 21 was selected based on function, price, and ease of doing business with the software vendor.
The implementation of Enterprise 21 will allow the company to manage its seventeen sales and distribution points utilizing one integrated view of transactions and data. Through use of Enterprise 21, NexGen expects to reduce local inventory balances, improve business processes, share customer knowledge across the seventeen locations, and develop a centralized buying power for purchased material with all factors contributing to better bottom- line metrics.
